God and Humans

(Koan and Conclusion)

Victor Kiriakis

Monogamy is stoopid.

John Dishwasher

Do you mean "monogamy" as in spiritual monogamy, as in like being wed to only one form of spiritual thinking? If this is what you mean (as opposed to some random joke), that's a really provocative way of making your point, my friend, and I have to give you a very serious kudo.

Victor Kiriakis

No thanks. I don't like granola.

John Dishwasher

Ah Ha! You are a Zen master! You have entered a koan into the debate. You have introduced a random non-sequitor to break us out of our circular rationalizations. But wait! That's what I was trying to do. I was trying to say: "Look, we're talking about the wrong things. Let us just drop all the religious talk and atheist-believer arguments and look at the fact we all seek peace of mind regardless what we profess as beliefs." That's what I was trying to do, but you did it better. Yes, I like your way better, Master Victor. Thank you, gracious wiseman. [bow] :)

This nigga OP has posted this topic in two other groups.

Actually I posted this topic in eighteen other groups. In about eleven of those it's got some interesting feedback. But in three of them (besides this one) it got some amazing feedback. If you've been following this thread with interest, but have been unaware of the others, you can check out these three best ones if you're curious.

Brother of Sleep

I like the way this went over here, the peace angle and all that. So what have you found out? Can anyone agree with anyone without possesing what the other has? Also what about those who would not care what you think either way. Would they be wrong or could you be? Is the point finding something to worship or what is the point? Maybe it is nothing but it seems that people are only looking for their own truth. I enjoy the discussion seeing it my way. How are you seeing it, did you figure anything out JOHN? I am interested really.

John Dishwasher

Maybe most remarkable is that no one has really outright rejected the idea. I have comments from groups of western-oriented believers, and eastern_oriented believers, and non-believers. They are challenging the idea, but also entertaining it. Most of the rejection has been of related ideas, not the ideas that are actually in the essay.
